Part 1 of 4 videos I’ve uploaded from the Japanese film “Hotaru” released in 2001. Starring the great Yakuza film star of the 50’s and 60’s, Ken Takakura.
These clips are about a Korean pilot enlisted in the Imperial Forces who volunteered for the Special Attack Forces aka “Kamikaze.”

大東亜戦争末期、鹿児島県薩摩半島の「九州の小京都」と呼ばれた町、知覧が戦時中最大の特攻出撃基地となる。当動画は映画「ホタル」(2001)から。悲劇の時代に青春を生き、美しく散っていった隊員の中には朝鮮人らの外国からの隊員もいた。
出身国を問わず隊員を平等に愛し、面倒を見た富屋食堂の鳥浜トメさんの思いを平成元年、元特攻隊員が受け継ぎ、韓国を訪れた際に奇跡を起こす。
